The Institute of Asthma and Allergy Prevention (IAP) at Helmholtz Munich studies fundamental developmental mechanisms of childhood asthma and allergies. One focus of our activities is the translation of our findings into the clinic with the aim of enabling the prevention of these diseases.

Your responsibilities

  • Development, optimisation and characterisation of new therapeutic approaches for asthma and allergy prevention
  • Performance of sophisticated cell culture experiments or assays (e.g. TEER assay, DC-T-cell interaction assay, reporter assay)
  • Performance of immunochemical methods (e.g. ELISA and Western blot) and FACS analyses
  • Preparation of transfected cell lines incl. cloning of corresponding vectors
  • Preparation and performance of preclinical animal studies for the validation of target molecules

Your qualifications

  • PhD or equivalent level of professional qualification in biology, biochemistry, immunology or a related subject and strong interest in translational research
  • Strong knowledge and scientific background in asthma and allergy research
  • Extensive knowledge of cell biological and immunochemical methods (reporter assays, ELISA, Western blot)
  • Experience in handling cell cultures
  • Professional experience in drug development in translational medicine or in a biotechnological or pharmaceutical environment is a plus
  • Enthusiasm, team spirit and interest in working independently
  • Good organisational skills
  • Very good knowledge of German and English

Provided that the prerequisites are fulfilled, a salary level up to E 13 is possible. Social benefits are based on the collective agreement for the federal public service (TVöD). The position is (initially) limited to 2 years, under certain circumstances an extension can be arranged.
