The Genomics Core Facility (Bioinformatics Platform) at Helmholtz Munich is looking for a highly motivated Next Generation Sequencing Bioinformatician to join our team of experienced scientists.

The Bioinformatics platform provides primary, secondary and tertiary (custom) bioinformatic analyses, courses and consulting for its users. The successful candidate will support these activities and perform a wide range of NGS analyses (e.g. bulk and single-cell RNA- and ATAC-Seq, ChIP-Seq, Genomic variation), to support various R&D projects for internal and external users and will work closely with other team members as lecturer in our courses and to implement new computational pipelines.

Your responsibilities

  • Data processing for users of the platform using established computational pipelines or development of individual research pipelines as reusable workflows
  • Bioinformatics consulting for researchers at Helmholtz Munich
  • Design and implementation of research projects and analysis pipelines for users of the platform
  • Lecturer and development of bioinformatics courses for scientists at different levels (beginner, advanced)

Your qualifications

  • MSC or PhD (preferred) in Bioinformatics or related fields
  • Strong programming skills (R & RMarkdown, Python, bash, git) and scientific track record
  • Teaching experience in bioinformatics, computational or statistics courses
  • Experienced with various Next-Generation Sequencing technologies and bioinformatic analyses (e.g. bulk and single-cell RNA- and ATAC-Seq, ChIP-Seq, Genomic variation)
  • Experienced with Linux systems and the use of high performance computing environments
  • Proficient in English

Desired Qualifications

  • Ideally experience with container technologies (e.g. Docker, Singularity), Conda and workflow languages (e.g. Nextflow)
  • Experience with (web) software development, relational databases and IT system administration would be a plus
