The Information and Communication Technology department (ICT) hosts a dynamic computing environment (CPU, GPU, and Cloud Computing) and participates in Europe-wide hybrid cloud infrastructure development projects, among others. The department is responsible for the mass storage systems for our highly dynamic and innovative research groups.

Your responsibilities

  • You contribute to the design, development and operation of GPU and cluster computing systems within an interactive team
  • You are interested in the latest technological developments in HPC, like GPU computing, AI toolsets (like TensorFlow) and parallel file systems (e.g. Lustre)
  • You develop documentation and training for users of these technologies
  • You are first line of contact for users to provide help or analyze and fix problems
  • You work with the platform developers on porting projects onto the HPC system
    • You implement and develop HPC solutions like virtualization and container technologies (OpenStack, Singularity, Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)

        Your qualifications

        • Bachelor or master (or comparable) degree in informatics, mathematics or a related subject from a university with internationally accepted quality standards
        • 3+ years of work experience
        • Strong knowledge of Linux, in particular installation and administration of systems
        • Strong skills in shell and script languages (Python, bash, etc.)
        • Fluent in written and spoken English
        • Structured and systematic working style as well as the ability for cooperation in teams
        • Strong orientation towards customer needs

          Desirable qualifications

          • Preferably good knowledge of written and spoken German
          • Ideally basic Ethernet and Infiniband networking skills
          • Optional automation & configuration tools (Ansible, Foreman, etc.)
