The Information and Communication Technology department (ICT) hosts a dynamic computing environment (CPU, GPU, and Cloud Computing) and participates in Europe-wide hybrid cloud infrastructure development projects, among others. The department is responsible for the mass storage systems for our highly dynamic and innovative research groups.

In collaboration with a highly dynamic and innovative team of researchers e.g. at Helmholtz AI, the Institute of Computational Biology and the Institute of AI for Health, we develop applications in the fields of Artificial Intelligence and Deep Learning.

Your responsibilities

  • Life-cycle management of the institute’s server infrastructure (deployment, update, monitoring and maintenance)
  • Monitoring and maintenance of the institute’s storage infrastructure
  • Monitoring and maintaining the institute’s web tools and platform services
  • Basic user administration in an Active Directory domain
  • Administration of the institute’s user hardware
    • Documentation of the computational infrastructure

        Your qualifications

        • Completed vocational training as a system administrator and comparable IT profession or Bachelor in Informatics or IT-related fields
        • Familiarity with Linux command line interace, including shell/bash based scripting
        • Experience in Linux based server environments
        • Conceptual understanding of storage mechanisms such as RAID
        • Experience with MacOS and Windows operating systems
        • Proficiency in spoken and written English and German
        • Good interpersonal communication skills

          Desirable qualifications

          • Know-how in using workload manager systems (Slurm)
          • Experience with IT automation (e.g. using Ansible) and monitoring
          • Experience with containerized environments such as Docker
          • Experience with Git repository
