The Institute of Translational Genomics at Helmholtz Munich studies genetic and other biomolecular information to understand the mechanisms underlying common diseases. We are looking for a motivated person to assist with the day-to-day system administrative needs at the institute. You will assist in maintaining and updating existing services (internal documentation, analysis solutions…) and deploying new ones as needs arise. You will work in tight collaboration with the Centre’s IT department.

Your mission

  • Assist in monitoring the health of the Institute’s software services and infrastructure
  • Help performing maintenance tasks and keeping software up to date
  • Inform coworkers about the current state of compute resources and upcoming downtime
  • Support deploying software solutions as needed by the Institute’s scientists
  • Help configure and troubleshoot user workstations by performing software maintenance, update and configuration
  • Support resolving IT issues at the institute, liaise with central IT and respond to user queries

Your qualifications

  • Enrolled in Computer Science studies or a related field
  • Experience with Linux system administration, software installation/deployment and dependencies management
  • Awareness of responsibilities associated with privileged access on critical systems
  • Experience with HPC systems and experience with container software are a plus
  • Proactive, independent and analytical mindset
  • Spoken and written fluency in English is essential

Remuneration and social benefits are based on the collective wage agreement for public-sector employees at federal level (TdL). The position is limited to six months.
