The INFRAFRONTIER GmbH is an academic non-profit organisation. It is located in Munich, Germany, at the premises of the Helmholtz Zentrum München and acts as the management and coordination office of the INFRAFRONTIER Research Infrastructure.

INFRAFRONTIER is the European research infrastructure for the development, phenotyping, archiving and distribution of mammalian models. INFRAFRONTIER provides access to unique resources and expertise to advance the understanding of human health and disease and handles requests from a global user community.

Your responsibilities

  • Full stack development within the INFRAFRONTIER informatics infrastructure together with other members of the team
  • Ensuring database and web application security, performance and service availability
  • Expanding database schema and interfaces to record research data from new services added to the INFRAFRONTIER portfolio
  • Cloud deployment of INFRAFRONTIER software products
  • Automated data exchange and integration of biomedical ontologies with a focus on cross-species mapping
  • Working together with international collaborators

Your qualifications

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or a related discipline and at least three years of work experience
  • Firm knowledge of database development and database server management
  • Firm knowledge of Java web programming technologies and frameworks (e.g. Spring, Hibernate, Vaadin, Tomcat, JavaScript)
  • Experience with web content management systems, ideally Wordpress
  • Knowledge of virtual machines, build automation and scripting languages (e.g. shell scripting, Perl)
  • Jenkins continuous integration desirable
  • Hands-on Linux (ideally Ubuntu) and virtual machine experience
  • Solr technology experience is a plus
  • Cloud technology experience (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus
  • Structured working style and ability to solve problems effectively in a team and on your own
  • Ability to work in an Agile/Scrum development process
  • Strong communication skills (English) and willingness to work in an international team
