The Institute of Diabetes and Regeneration Research (IDR) at the Helmholtz Diabetes Center München, headed by Prof. Heiko Lickert, focuses on the development of regenerative therapeutic approaches to treat diabetes mellitus - complementary and alternative to the classical immunological and metabolic therapy strategies. The aim is to improve current strategies for functional β-cell production in vitro with the ultimate goal to provide alternative sources of β-cells for cell replacement therapy in diabetes.

Your responsibilities

  • Generation of mouse chimeras using diploid and tetraploid aggregation technology
  • Transfer of 2-cell stage Morula and blastocysts into uterus and oviduct
  • Culture and manipulations of mouse embryonic stem cells
  • Histological, biochemical and molecular biological tasks
  • Analysis of mouse lines for pancreas and diabetes development
  • Phenotypic characterization of mouse development and the adult pancreas
  • Maintenance of a mouse colony (weaning, setting up matings, ear punching and sorting out mice, plugcheck)

Your qualifications

  • Qualified BTA, CTA or MTA
  • Experience with ES cell culture, isolation and injection of mouse embryos 
  • Broad expertise in biochemical and molecular methods
  • Experience in MS office
  • High motivation and willingness to work in an international team
  • Good technical and organizational skills with eye for detail
  • English knowledge is required
