We are Helmholtz Munich. In a rapidly changing world, we discover breakthrough solutions for better health.

Our research is focused within the areas of metabolic health/diabetes, environmental health, molecular targets and therapies, cell programming and repair, bioengineering, and computational health. We particularly excel in the fields of basic research, bioengineering, artificial intelligence, and technological development.

Through this research, we build the foundations for medical innovation. Together with our partners, we seek to accelerate the transfer of our research, so that laboratory ideas can reach society and improve people’s quality of life at the fastest rate possible.

This is what drives us. Why not join us and make a difference?

Precision therapy for cancers demands patient stratification and therapeutic target identification through the integration of multi-level omics data, metabolic insights, and clinical information from oncological cohorts. Our current projects tackle pivotal questions in radio-oncology, focusing on metabolism and senescence. We employ translational research methodologies, generating and analyzing high-dimensional data from diverse molecular levels across large-scale clinical cohorts and in vitro model systems to unravel intricate tumor interactions and metabolic processes affecting therapeutic responses.

We offer:

  • Initial 3-year funding.
  • Opportunity for graduation with a Dr. rer. nat. or Dr. rer. biol. hum.
  • Access to high-level training programs and participation in scientific conferences.
  • Potential for (inter-)national lab exchanges.
  • Engage in interdisciplinary research spanning biology, bioinformatics, statistics, physics, and medicine.
  • Access to high-performance computing environments.
  • Enrollment in the Graduate School at Helmholtz Munich.
  • Support from experienced researchers in bioinformatics, biology, and mathematics.
  • Flexible working conditions and a collegial atmosphere.
  • Opportunity to focus on computational and/or wet-lab projects.
