The Institute for Diabetes and Obesity (IDO) is located at the Helmholtz Zentrum Munich. The institute is focused on the development of personalized preventive and therapeutic strategies for diabetes and obesity.

The Research Unit Molecular Pharmacology (headed by PD Dr. Timo Müller) is working on the development of new pharmacotherapies to safely and efficiently lower body weight while improving glucose metabolism. The group is looking for a new Postdoc with proven expertise and strong background in immunohistochemistry and neuroendocrinology.

Your responsibilities

  • Pharmacological in vivo studies in mice to assess drug effects on systems metabolism
  • Immunohistochemical and immunocytochemical analysis of target genes and signal mechanisms using confocal and light sheet microscopy
  • Ex vivo tissue analysis of target genes including state-of-the art proteomic and transcriptomic approaches

Your qualifications

  • Strong background with profound experience in neuroendocrinology
  • Proven experience in immunhistochemistry, immuncytochemistry and neuroimaging, including confocal microscopy and light sheet fluorescent microscopy
  • Ideally theorectical and practical background knowledge in obesity and diabetes
  • Great interest and experience in working with mice; FELASA certificates to work with mice are available
  • Good knowledge in general cell and molecular biological techniques including cell culture, western blot and qPCR, cloning, transfection
  • High motivation, flexibility and proven expertise by peer-reviewed publications in visible journals
