Your responsibilities

  • Support the development of safe-by-design strategies for nanomaterials
  • Leverage in vitro, in vivo and human data on nanotoxicology for risk assessment of the inhaled nanomaterials
  • Improve the predictive power of in vitro cell models of the lung for health risk of inhaled nanomaterials
  • Leverage computational, imaging and analytical methods for aerosol dosimetry in cell and animal models of the lung
  • Collaborate with an international network of partners from industry and academia as part of the EU-funded HARMLESS project

Your qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in (nano)toxicology, biotechnology/-engineering, (bio)physics, aerosol science or equivalent field
  • Several years of laboratory experience with in vitro and in vivo hazard assessment of nanomaterials
  • Keen interest in quantitative and predictive understanding of hazard, dose and transport of nanomaterials in air and organisms
  • Team player skills and enthusiasm to work in a multi-disciplinary, international, collaborative environment
  • Strong motivation, resilience, scientific curiosity, and commitment to scientific excellence

Desired qualifications:

  • Experience with meta-analysis of already published data
  • Experience with cell culture models, organ-on-a-chip technologies, or animal (mouse) models
  • Willingness to work with mouse models of the lung
  • Good command of German language
