Our mission as research center: Discover personalized medical solutions for environmentally triggered diseases to promote a healthier society in a rapidly changing world.

The Institute for Metabolism and Cell Death (MCD) investigates the metabolic and genetic determinants of regulated non-apoptotic cell death. Aberrant cell death is the hallmark of many diseases including organ failure, neurodegeneration and cancer. Our main goal is to better understand the metabolic and genetic mechanisms underlying these cell death modalities in order to develop novel tools and drugs that specifically modulate cell death decisions to prevent these often yet-incurable diseases.
