Helmholtz Zentrum München is a research center with the mission to discover personalized medical solutions for the prevention and therapy of environmentally triggered diseases and promote a healthier society in a rapidly changing world.

The Institute of Translational Genomics (ITG) at the Helmholtz Zentrum München (HMGU) studies genetic and other biomolecular information to understand the mechanisms underlying common diseases. We are looking for a motivated person to help us harmonise issue tracking systems and internal documentation (Wiki) software between ITG and several other institutes at HMGU. This position will be based within the Analytics team, which is in charge of developing smart solutions for addressing data-intensive problems across the Institute.

As one of HMGU's fully computational institutes, ITG needs a good, searchable documentation and issue tracking system. Currently, multiple solutions have been developed independently across institutes to fill these needs. This role’s main objective will be to assist the Head of Analytics in engineering a centralised solution and organising the transition to the new system. This post is a unique opportunity for individuals curious about new software to take an active part in building a knowledge base system in a scientific research department.

Your responsibilities

  • Support in analysing the existing systems and communicating with key stakeholders and users
  • Search for a suitable software solution given budget and time constraints
  • Assist in purchasing if relevant
  • Deploy test environments and collecting feedback
  • Support the transfer of existing documentation and information to the new system
  • Aid in the training of users and listening to feedback

Your qualifications

  • Enrolled in Computer Science studies or a related field
  • Experience in software installation/deployment
  • Experience with container software
  • Knowledge of Markdown
  • Proactive, independent mindset
  • Spoken and written fluency in English is essential
  • Desired qualifications
  • Experience with documentation/wiki systems (BookStack, xWiki…)
