The Research Unit Neurobiology of Diabetes (Prof. Dr. Paul Pfluger) at the Institute for Diabetes and Obesity, Helmholtz Diabetes Center (HDC) in Munich is looking for two highly talented and motivated individuals to join their research team for the ERC-funded 5-year-project “Weight management by AgRP neurons”. Your mission

  • You will combine murine models and hiPSCs with cell sorting and RNAseq/ChIPmentation to profile the role of hypothalamic neuronal subpopulations in weight control, hepatic metabolism and aggression behavior
  • As member of the international Helmholtz Diabetes Research Graduate School, you will receive professional scientific and extramural training and career support throughout your time as graduate student

Your qualifications

  • University degree (Diploma or Master) in a relevant science
  • Knowledge of standard molecular, cell biology and biochemical methods
  • And willingness to work with murine and cellular models

Remuneration and social benefits are based on the collective wage agreement for public-sector employees at federal level (EG 13 50% TV EntgO Bund). In addition, there is also the possibility of granting an allowance amounting to 15% if the necessary conditions are fulfilled. The position is (initially) limited to three years, but under certain circumstances an extension can be arranged.
