Our mission:

The newly established Institute for Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine (iTERM) develops and implements 3D imaging technologies to be able to generate the highest resolution views of whole mouse bodies and human organs. At iTERM, we bring together cutting-edge science from biology, chemistry, engineering, and computer applications. Our overarching aim is to obtain a holistic view of interconnected biological systems in health and disease. We also develop deep learning-based algorithms (AI) to analyze large imaging and molecular data in a robust and unbiased way.

Your responsibilities

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented post-doctoral fellow with excellent skills and knowledge in organoid-models to strengthen our tissue engineering team. The candidate will be expected to develop new technologies for 3D- tissue culture and build a systemic framework for using organoid cultures in diverse areas, taking advantage of the interdisciplinary nature of our team which includes fields of biology, engineering and AI. The candidate will establish a platform for modeling diseases using genome-editing and imaging for drug candidate screening. The candidate will also work together with other scientists in developing vascularization technology for long-term organ culture and bioprinting.

Your qualifications

  • Candidates must have a PhD in a relevant Life Sciences field
  • Extensive cell culture experience with strong background in developing and maintaining organoid 3-D cultures is required
  • Broad experience in generating in vitro models including the use of lentivirus transduction, shRNA and CRISPR-sgRNA tools
  • Expertise in fluorescent microscopy and image analysis is appreciated
  • Previous experience with vascular organoids and or adult tissue-derived stem cells is a plus
  • Demonstrated aptitude to perform experimental protocols and procedures, including detailed data collection, and analysis, operation and maintenance of specialized equipment
  • Finally, good communication skills in English, team player mentality, independence and problem-solving skills are expected
