The Computational Health Center is a dynamic and innovative institution engaged in the development of artificial intelligence (AI) methods for biomedical applications. In this highly explosive and relevant field of research we are one of the largest and most recognized centers in Germany. On a national and international level we are active and recognized in numerous initiatives and networks.

The Institute of Computational Biology (ICB) is globally recognised for innovations in data analysis and modelling of biological systems and diseases, anchored at Helmholtz Munich and the Technical University of Munich. The Theis Lab has a long-standing reputation for pioneering machine learning and AI methods in molecular biology, in particular on single-cell genomics.

We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Lab Manager (f/m/x) to join the dynamic research team in the lab of Prof. Fabian Theis. The Lab Manager will play a pivotal role in supporting the smooth operation of the Theis lab by ensuring fair distribution of tasks, facilitating communication, and maintaining high organizational standards. This position is ideal for someone with strong interpersonal, organizational, and multitasking skills who enjoys contributing to a collaborative and productive research environment.

Your tasks

  • manage projects and grants, coordinate deliverables and ingest new ones
  • proof-read and help writing manuscripts & reports
  • distribute lab duties fairly and check their completion
  • maintain lab website and wiki pages
  • generally serve as contact person for the lab

Your profile

  • MSc-level university degree, preferably in Health, Medicine, Computational field or similar
  • demonstrable experience in scientific project management
  • attention to detail and the ability to diligently manage a broad range of different responsibilities in your own time
  • excellent verbal and written fluency in English
  • ability to work independently within an international team and environment

Desirable qualifications

  • a background in AI or computational biology
  • extra training in project management or agile techniques

If you fulfil all the requirements, you may be eligible for a salary grade of up to E 13. Social benefits are based on the Collective Wage Agreement for Public-Sector Employees (TVöD). The position has an (initial) fixed term of 1 year but may be extended under certain circumstances.
