The aim of the Institute of Translational Stem Cell Research (ITS) is to develop a stem-cell-based replacement therapy for type 1 diabetes.
The ITS at Helmholtz Zentrum Munich, Germany, is looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic PhD candidate with a strong interest in stem cell research to join the BMBF (Federal Ministry of Education and Research) funded consortium, eISLET. eISLET aims to engineer functional pancreatic islets from human-induced pluripotent stem cells to generate a cell replacement therapy for diabetic patients.

Your qualifications

  • Master degree or Diploma in Life Sciences e.g. Biology (Stem cell or Developmental Biology), Medicine, Biochemistry or related discipline
  • Knowledge of cell culture (preferably human pluripotent stem cells), flow cytometry and molecular biology techniques
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Fluent in English oral and writing 
  • A high level of motivation and a strong interest in translational research
