We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Staff Scientist (f/m/x) to join the Institute of Translational Genomics led by Prof. Eleftheria Zeggini. The group integrates state-of-the-art genetic and functional genomic approaches to understand the mechanisms underlying common diseases using large-scale bioinformatic solutions. We work with large scale genetic datasets in combination with high-dimensional phenotypic and multi-omics data and are seeking a talented individual to steer multiple independent research projects as well as provide statistical and methodological support for the team.
Your responsibilities
- Analyzing large genomic datasets including multi-omics, single cell omics, and spatial omics
- Providing advice and support regarding statistical methods and interpretation of results
- Taking the lead in data processing, statistical analysis, interpretation and development of projects
- Assisting in the training and supervision of students
- Scientific writing (including co-develop applications for fellowships and grants) and presenting results at internal meetings and international conferences

Your qualifications
- PhD in statistical genetics, mathematics, bioinformatics, computational biology, or a related field
- Excellence in working with large scale data types including multi-omics and corresponding statistical genetic analyses (QTL mapping, fine-mapping, meta-analysis, GWAS, MR, colocalization)
- Statistical expertise
- Sound working knowledge in the use of programming languages (e.g. R, Python, C, Perl) and high performance computing
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to work with colleagues from different disciplines
- Proficient English language skills (both written and spoken)
