Helmholtz Zentrum München is a research center with the mission to discover personalized medical solutions for the prevention and therapy of environmentally triggered diseases and promote a healthier society in a rapidly changing world.
Germany’s largest research organization, the Helmholtz Association, launched Helmholtz AI: This dedicated, interdisciplinary platform develops and promotes applied Artificial Intelligence (AI) methods for all Helmholtz centers in collaboration with its external and university partners. Its central unit is implemented at the Helmholtz Zentrum München in Munich.
Lara Urban’s lab at Helmholtz AI and the Helmholtz Pioneer Campus at Helmholtz Munich focuses on the application of Molecular Biology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the context of planetary health. Research topics include, but are not limited to:
In this context, the Urban lab is looking for a post-doctoral researcher who ideally has experience in both, genomic research and Machine Learning, and who has a strong interest in planetary health. You will drive your research project(s), guide PhD and Master thesis projects, and contribute to interdisciplinary projects within Helmholtz and in additional international collaborations.

Remuneration and social benefits are based on the collective wage agreement for public-sector employees at federal level (TVEntgO Bund). Provided that the prerequisites are fulfilled, a salary level up to E 14 is possible. The position is (initially) limited to two years, but under certain circumstances an extension can be arranged.
