The Core Facility Pathology & Tissue Analytics (CF-PTA) offers state of the art technical and professional services in pathology and microscopy for all aspects of tissue based research individualized to project needs. With many years of experience, we continuously engage in method development and offer assessment of tissue pathology.

We are looking for a highly motivated Veterinary staff scientist (f/m/x) to join our team.

If you enjoy working in collaboration at the cutting edge of science and you want to develop a working knowledge of state-of-the-art methods in histopathology, this full time position may be for you.

Your tasks

  • Morphological-molecular analysis of tissues in clinical and preclinical settings with special expertise in laboratory animal pathology
  • Histopathological diagnosis and preparing scientific reports of challenging interdisciplinary research projects
  • Development and application of new sophisticated methods in tissue-based analysis to provide services to researchers utilizing state-of-the-art histotechnology (e.g. spatial biology) advanced microscopy and digital AI-based image analysis
  • Train and supervise researchers/students in research techniques, microscopy (confocal and non-confocal microscope) systems, data analysis software
  • Collaborate with scientists across multiple departments and other core facilities to help develop analysis and visualization tools for biological imaging data

Your profile

  • PhD or Master’s degree with 5+ years of post-degree relevant and productive work experience in veterinary medicine, biology, medicine or related fields
  • Knowledge in laboratory animal diagnostics with special expertise in working with mouse models
  • Expert skills in histopathology, immunohistochemistry and morphological - molecular analysis of tissues and a passion to develop and implement state of the art tools (e.g spatial transcriptomics)
  • Strong motivation, scientific curiosity and commitment to scientific excellence
  • Hands-on expertise in advanced microscopy and digital image analysis
  • Competence in constructive communication (German and English) in a top-tier multidisciplinary environment
  • Ability to set goal-oriented priorities, structured work organisation and team player skills and enthusiasm to work in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary, and highly-qualified environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills, and a commitment to customer service
  • Prior working experience in a core facility setting is an advantage

If you fulfil all the requirements, you may be eligible for a salary grade of up to E 13. Social benefits are based on the Collective Wage Agreement for Public-Sector Employees (TVöD). The position has an (initial) fixed term of 2 years but may be extended under certain circumstances.
