The Ohnmacht lab is conducting basic research with a focus on the elucidation of immunological tolerance mechanisms in various settings. A particular interest of the lab is the gastronintestinal immune system and the interaction between the intestinal microbiota and the host immune system, namely how immunological tolerance at mucosal barrier organs towards harmless microbes or allergens is established and maintained and the consequences of a loss of this tolerance for different diseases.  In this setting, the successful candidate will be able to follow own research avenues in an interesting and rapidly developing field.   We are looking for a highly motivated
