At the Institute of Diabetes Research and Metabolic Diseases (IDM) and the German Centre for Diabetes Research (DZD e.V.) we are looking for a Postdoc (f/m/x) who works on the development and therapy of type 2 diabetes, insulin resistance and fatty liver as part of studies in animal models and cell systems. The work will take place in the Department of Translational Diabetology (Head: Prof. Dr Andreas Birkenfeld). Our Institute is located in Tübingen at the University of Tübingen, which is one of Germany's Universities of Excellence, and provides an interdisciplinary and international environment. The work place is Tübingen.


Your tasks

  • Establish and perform flux analysis of metabolites in metabolioc diseases in collaboration with our international and local partners
  • Perform hyperinsulinemic/euglycemic clamps in mouse models
  • Perform translational research in mouse models as well as patient material/patient cohorts
  • Support administration of the animal facility and animal studies


Your profile

  • Master and PhD in Life Sciences or related field (basic research)
  • Profound knowledge in working with metabolic mouse models
  • Experience in hyperinsulinemic/euglycemic clamps and corresponding surgical techniques
  • Sound knowledge of the molecular and cellular basis of diabetes
  • Strong ability for independent and team-orientated action and communication
  • Experience in supervising doctoral students and technical staff
  • Motivation and commitment for a scientific/academic career

If you fulfil all the requirements, you may be eligible for a salary grade of up to E 13. Social benefits are based on the Collective Wage Agreement for Public-Sector Employees (TVöD). The position has an (initial) fixed term of 2 years but may be extended under certain circumstances.
