The Institute of Translational Stem Cell Research (ITS), headed by Prof. Henrik Semb, focuses on developing stem-cell-based therapies to treat patients with Type 1 Diabetes.

ITS is looking for a highly motivated and self-starting project manager (f/m/x) with excellent project management and communication skills and an interest in working in an ambitious international research environment. The H2020 funded project ISLET is a five-year project with expert partners from seven different European research institutions.

ISLET aims to build and implement a new and innovative program for the development, production, and marketing of human pluripotent stem cell-derived advanced therapy medicinal products for the treatment of EU citizens with type 1 diabetes. The Project Manager will work closely with the ISLET Project Coordinator as well as all members of the European consortium to create and deliver a program that will advance stem cell-based therapies for type 1 diabetes patients.

Your responsibilities

  • Responsible for communication within the consortium
  • Support the project coordinator in all aspects of the project
  • Ensuring EU policies are being met with support from the EU office at Helmholtz Munich
  • Ensure deadlines are met
  • Support the budgeting at Helmholtz Munich for the ISLET project.

Your qualifications

  • Relevant educational background at Masters level (natural or social sciences)
  • Knowledge of translational research
  • Experience of stem cell research is an advantage
  • Expertise and proven prior success in scientific project management is required
  • Knowledge of budgeting and financial management of projects
  • Knowledge of commercialization of academic research projects
  • Has a strong ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and frequent deadlines
  • Proactive, innovative, analytical, goal- and solution-oriented
  • Good English communication skills, both oral and written, is a prerequisite for the successful candidate
  • Thrives as part of a team, as well as in independent work, and develops good relations in a multi-cultural research environment.

Provided that the prerequisites are fulfilled, a salary level up to E 13 is possible. Social benefits are based on the collective agreement for the federal public service (TVöD). The position is (initially) limited to two years, under certain circumstances an extension can be arranged.
