Its central unit operates at the Helmholtz Zentrum München in Munich.

The Munich consultant team is focussing on Health and collaborates with researchers from the whole Association on projects on cancer and infection research, molecular medicine, as well as neurodegenerative and environmental diseases. Your responsibilities

    You will create AI tools for the unique data sets generated by renowned researchers, with a focus on Health applications. You will also play a crucial role in achieving our long-term goal of facilitating open access to AI expertise by contributing to open-source initiatives.

    You will

  • develop, deploy and maintain open-source scientific software to solve concrete research questions
  • work closely with a team of talented scientists to bring machine learning models into quality software
  • continuously learn about state-of-the-art and emerging AI methods
  • network with IT and HPC experts and within the Helmholtz AI initiative

Your have

  • a master degree in computer science, software engineering or a related field
  • strong interest, and ideally experience, in developing AI and machine learning pipelines, ideally combined with an interest in related IT infrastructures
  • proficiency developing production-quality software  object-oriented programming with in Python, experience with deep learning frameworks, e.g. Tensorflow, Pytorch is a plus
  • experience with software engineering practices including coding standards, code reviews, version control, build processes, testing, and operations, ideally in an open-source context
  • strong team spirit and enthusiasm for sharing best practices
