The Information and Communication Technology department (ICT) hosts a dynamic computing environment (CPU, GPU, and Cloud Computing) and participates in Europe-wide hybrid cloud infrastructure development projects, among others. The department is responsible for the mass storage systems for our highly dynamic and innovative research groups.

Your responsibilities
-
You contribute to the design, development and operation of cluster computing systems within an interactive team.
-
You work with the platform developers on porting projects onto the HPC system.
-
You are responsible for benchmarking and system tuning, as well as for problem analysis and resolution.
- You implement and develop HPC solutions like virtualization and container technologies (OpenStack, Singularity, Docker, Kubernetes, etc.).
- You manage configuration and capacity, and you provision and monitor file systems (based on ZFS).

Your qualification

Bachelor or master (or comparable) degree in informatics, mathematics or a related subject from a university with internationally accepted quality standards

3+ years of work experience

Strong knowledge of Linux, in particular installation and administration of systems
- Strong skills in shell and script languages (Python, bash, etc.)

Fluent in written and spoken English

Structured and systematic working style as well as the ability for cooperation in teams
- Strong orientation towards customer needs
Desirable qualifications
- Preferably good knowledge of written and spoken German
- Ideally basic networking skills – Ethernet, Infiniband, Fiber Channel
- Optional automation & configuration tools (Ansible, Foreman, etc.)
