Your responsibilities

With your project, you will investigate the molecular mechanism of body weight loss in cancer, so called cancer cachexia. Cachexia is a deadly disease associated with cancer. Using our established mouse models and cell culture experiments paired with state-of-the-art -omics techniques, you will identify novel regulators of body weight loss in cancer. Specific requirements:

Planning and execution of research projects at the interface of molecular biology and metabolism
Independent planning, execution and analysis of experiments
Investigating metabolism in cell culture and mouse models
Establishing workflows and readout assays to elucidate energy expenditure mechanisms
Analysis and interpretation of research data
Publication and presentation of research results
Professional supervision of (PhD) students

Your qualifications

PhD or equivalent level of professional qualification in biochemistry or related discipline
Theoretical and practical expertise in molecular biology techniques and physiology
Expertise in cell culture techniques
Expertise in -omics data analysis
Documented experience (FELASA B certificate) in mouse handling, breeding and experimentation
Enthusiasm to work in an international and interdisciplinary research team
High motivation, flexibility as well as innovative and creative thinking are a must
A strong academic record documented by publications in high-ranking journals, international research experience as well as proficiency in English (verbal and written) are required
