Core Facility Metabolomics and Proteomics (CF-MPC) at Helmholtz Munich is recruiting a highly motivated Research Technician (B.Sc./BTA/CTA/MTA) to provide strong wet lab support for our popular OLINK service platform. As a certified provider, we offer the complete repertoire of state-of-the-art Explore/Target OLINK® technologies for advanced biomarker discovery, where smallest amounts of proteins from serum/plasma are detected by Q-PCR or NGS sequencing. The successful candidate will have a strong skill-set in molecular biology and NGS techniques. Supported by an experienced team you will be in charge of running various R&D projects for internal and external users and help establish new assays where needed. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a rapidly developing field and learn a wide variety of new techniques and skills in a high profile laboratory.

Your responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, QC and record customer samples and laboratory consumables upon delivery
  • Perform both OLINK Target and OLINK Explore experimental workflows according to established standard operation procedures, from sample preparation to delivery of samples for data analysis, after successful certification training
  • Operation of laboratory robotics for sample handling
  • Troubleshooting of technical and experimental problems
  • Optimization and testing of new and existing OLINK protocols
  • Support the seamless operation of the core (e.g. ordering and supply management, regular instrument QC and maintenance, software updates, liaise with technical support engineers)
  • Communicate regularly with customers, colleagues from other core facilities and the OLINK Platform team for timely and smooth project planning and conduct

Your qualifications

  • BTA/ CTA/ MTA, lab technician (Laborant) or a Bachelor’s degree or similar in molecular biology, biochemistry or related science/engineering field with at least three years of hands-on experience in a molecular biology setting
  • Ability to follow and perform experiments to SOPs and highly accurate and precise pipetting skills
  • Prior experience with liquid handling robots and NGS technologies is beneficial
  • Ability and desire to learn new skills in parallel with supporting ongoing work
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential
  • Ability to balance multiple tasks and be flexible in day-to-day work
  • Deliver results in a timely and effective manner
  • Thorough, self-motivated, and proactive team player with an interest to work across teams and disciplines
  • Experience in Microsoft Office programs and willingness to learn other software and systems. Familiarity with LIMS is a plus
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills, both oral and written. Written and oral communication skills in English, good German language skills
