At the Institute for Metabolism and Immunology, our goal is to understand how the immune system interacts with metabolism in health and disease and how this knowledge can be used for precise prevention and therapy. We focus on regulatory T cells (Tregs) as key mediators of immune–metabolic crosstalk, with a particular interest in autoimmune type 1 diabetes as a model disease. We aim to uncover how Treg specialization and dysfunction drive metabolic disorders and to translate these insights into precise, context-specific immunotherapies. Ultimately, we strive to develop strategies that modulate immune responses while supporting tissue function, regeneration, and metabolic health.
Your tasks
- Perform genotyping using PCR-based methods as well as isolate DNA, RNA, and proteins from various sample types
- Assist with animal experiments, particularly using mouse models
- Maintain, handle, and document laboratory mice in compliance with all regulations
- Support the organization and coordination of laboratory workflows, collaborate closely with scientific staff
- Support and perform flow cytometry (FACS) analyses
- Carefully document and analyze experimental results
Your profile
- Completed vocational training as BTA, MTA, VMTA, or biological laboratory technician
- Experience with molecular biology techniques (e.g. PCR, qPCR, nucleic acid/protein extraction)
- Experience in laboratory animal work (especially mice) or strong willingness to learn
- Good command of English (written and spoken)
- High level of reliability and sense of responsibility
- Strong team spirit and communication skills
Desirable qualifications
- Experience with flow cytometry "FACS" is a plus
- FELASA certification is an advantage
If you fulfill all the requirements, you may be eligible for a salary grade of up to E 9a. Social benefits are based on the Collective Wage Agreement for Public-Sector Employees (TVöD). The position has an (initial) fixed term of 2 years but may be extended under certain circumstances.
