We are looking for a highly motivated research technician to join our international research team at the Institute for Diabetes and Obesity (IDO) of the newly established Helmholtz Diabetes Center (HDC) in Munich. The Helmholtz Center Munich is a member of one of the leading research associations in Europe – the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centers.

Our group Cellular Proteomics and Metabolic Signaling combines proteomics, cell biological methods and in vivo models to investigate cellular processes and signaling pathways underlying the development of obesity and associated diseases such as hepatic steatosis. We are especially interested in the remodeling of cell organelles and how this is controlled by metabolic signaling.

Your responsibilities

  • Operating, calibration and maintenance of state-of-the-art mass spectrometers and HPLC systems;
  • Preparation of proteomic and phosphoproteomic samples;
  • Processing and analysis of proteomic data;
  • Testing of new protocols and methodologies;
  • Organization, maintenance and ordering of materials and reagents;
  • Mouse experiments, organ perfusion and isolation, injections;
  • Assistance in cell biological and biochemical experiments.

Your qualifications

  • Education as a research technician (BTA, MTA, CTA) or an equivalent degree;
  • Experience and training in operating and maintaining mass spectrometers;
  • Experience with the work of mouse models, organ isolation, perfusion, injections;
  • FELASA certificate and training in performing animal experiments;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication in German and English;
  • Self-motivation, initiative and dependability as a team player;
  • Versatility and willingness to adapt quickly to different tasks and timelines in a multi-disciplinary environment.

Desired qualifications

  • Experience in the field of molecular biology and biochemistry would be an advantage.
