As the volume and variety of data available for human disease research has dramatically increased in recent years, methods to efficiently curate, manage, and integrate these data are needed. This position will be based within the Institute of Translational Genomics (ITG) Data Informatics team, which is in charge of developing smart solutions for addressing data-intensive problems across the Institute, and the and the Institute of Diabetes Research (IDF1), which focuses on the pathogenesis and prevention of type 1 diabetes and gestational diabetes.

We work with large-scale genetic datasets in combination with high-dimensional phenotypic and multi-omics data and are seeking a talented and highly motivated individual to assist in the curation, management and integration of these datasets:

Your responsibilities

  • Working on all aspects of data curation, data integration and data management
  • Dealing with a wide variety of large-scale data types and formats, including multi-omics (genomics, proteomics, etc.)
  • Analysis of summary statistics and phenotypic data
  • Developing intelligent solutions for data management
  • Data Quality control
  • Integration to facilitate and promote the use of big data in all aspects of human health research

Your qualifications

  • A degree in bioinformatics or related computational field
  • Experience of working with large datasets
  • Familiarity with use and storage of human genomics data
  • Good coding skills in a programming language (e.g. C, Perl, Python or Java)
  • Familiarity with Unix and high performance computing environments
  • Proficient English language skills (both written and spoken)
  • Ability to communicate efficiently with people of different horizons (scientific staff, IT personnel, research management)
