Helmholtz Munich is a research center with the mission to discover personalized medical solutions for the prevention and therapy of environmentally triggered diseases and promote a healthier society in a rapidly changing world.

The Institute of Environmental Medicine is engaged in basic and translational research on environment-human interaction with a focus on allergic diseases. New infectious diseases such as COVID-19 affect many areas of life and it is largely unclear which factors influence disease progression.

To be better prepared in the future, the Institute of Environmental Medicine is studying the pathological effects of infection on the upper (nose/throat) and lower airways (lungs), the role of burdensome pre-existing conditions such as asthma/allergies on disease progression, and the prevention and management of future pandemics, particularly those caused by aerosol-borne viruses.

Our team in Augsburg consists of 6 research groups with a total of 40 employees and is looking for immediate reinforcement in the field of aerosol research for the establishment of new modules in the BSL2 laboratory in Augsburg and the expansion of the connection to the emerging BSL3 laboratory at the Neuherberg site. The advertised position will be filled within the PERFORM-REACT EU project for a limited period until 31.07.2023.
